India Couture Week 2016 begins today: All that’s in store at the dream gala

The five-day couture showcase will have eleven designers presenting their creations.

For all those brides and grooms sifting through designer lookbooks, some more inspiration is coming your way. With haute couture being synonymous with weddingwear in India, lots of bespoke, grandeur-high ensembles for the bride’s trousseau and the groom’s wardrobe will find its way on to the ramps, with India Couture Week kickstarting in the national capital on Wednesday.
Helmed by Fashion Design Council of India, eleven designers will showcase their creations in the five-day long event, that culminates on Sunday. While designer Manish Malhotra will open the couture week, Rohit Bal will close it, at an offsite show at Bikaner House. And of course, couture is never complete without Bollywood presence, and thus there’s going to be some showstopper-action too. Fresh inspiration for the season or same’ol lehenga-play? Watch this space to find out.
